The Toyota Prius isn’t your average hybrid vehicle: it was the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle in the world. When the Prius first came onto the Japanese market in 1997, it made quite a stir and kickstarted hybrid cars’ existence into the mainstream. It also inspired many other automobile manufacturers to make hybrid vehicles, but the Prius is the original hybrid car! But what are the benefits of owning a Prius? For starters, it’s known for being a reliable vehicle with relatively low ownership costs. However, its most important feature is its stellar fuel economy. As gas prices in Colorado fluctuate month after month and year after year, you’ll save money by driving a hybrid car because they offer a much higher mileage per gallon of gas than a conventional car would. These are great reasons to choose a Prius, but it’s also good to know that these cars also have great safety features. However, just like all vehicle makes and models, your Prius will eventually need repairs.
Maintenance is an important part of owning any car, including the Toyota Prius. Some typical maintenance procedures your Prius will need include brake flush, engine tune-up, tire rotation, and wheel alignment. As always, check your car’s owner’s manual to see the intervals in which you should get maintenance services done. Also, your Prius may need repairs over time and with wear and tear. Some of the most common problems your Toyota Prius will run into are coolant control valve failure (which will cause your check engine light to come on), an incorrect fuel gauge reading, or a failure of the infotainment display panel. It can also have some of the same issues that conventional cars face, like damaged parts and worn-out pieces. If you notice any lights come on on your dashboard or if you’re noticing a change in performance or fuel efficiency, be sure to bring your Prius to an auto repair shop that specializes in Prius repair…like us!
