Your Audi’s engine has many parts that work together and generate great heat and friction. It also has a water pump, which keeps coolant running through the car’s engine block, hoses, and radiator, which keeps things cooled off to prevent overheating. If your water pump isn’t working correctly, you’ll find your engine overheating in the summer or freezing in the winter. Repeated incidents of your engine running at the wrong temperature can lead to gasket damage, messed-up cylinder heads and pistons, and even total engine failure. Common signs of water pump failure are coolant leaks, whining noises when accelerating, or steam from under the car’s hood. If your engine leaks coolant, you’ll see a puddle of blue, pink, orange, or green liquid. And if you see steam coming out from under your car’s hood, the water pump has completely failed, which is a pretty serious situation. If you notice any of these signs of a failing water pump, be sure to bring your car in to be inspected. If you don’t take action, the problem will only continue escalating, causing more damage.
