Don’t Let a Bad Radiator Cause You to Lose Your Cool
COMMON ISSUES WITH RADIATORS
The Function
Because your automobile's engine generates a tremendous amount of heat through friction and the internal combustion process, your vehicle must have a way to dissipate heat. As part of the cooling system, the radiator allows water/coolant that has absorbed much of this heat to circulate for cooling before returning to repeat the process. The radiator has tiny fin-shaped tubes as well as a fan blowing across it to allow for maximum air exposure and heat exchange. If the process is disrupted, your car can overheat and will need auto radiator repair. The ASE-certified technicians at Antero Automotive & Truck Services in Greenwood Village, Colorado, who are known for their expertise with European transportation, can assist you with any make or model.
The Problem
It's a good idea to have us service your transportation periodically to perform preventive maintenance and catch problems early. Beyond this, some signs of overheating will likely catch your attention. These include a rising reading on the temperature gauge and steaming and boiling noises. Although we'll need to check your car to properly diagnose the issue, we're glad to share some of the more common radiator-related problems. An obvious predicament is a malfunction of the radiator itself. It can be clogged internally from rust and corrosion, externally from mud or objects, and/or have a hole that allows fluid to escape. Related difficulties include a failed fan, causing air not to flow across the radiator fins, or a ruptured hose that spills the water/coolant such that there's no circulation.
